William (Mason Brooks's father)

William “Bill” was a finance professional and the father of Mason Brooks. He lived with Mason and Mason’s mother, Janine, during his son’s high-school years.

Bill recognized Mason’s intelligence and expected him to pursue a career such as finance. Their repeated arguments over Mason’s music ambitions often required Janine to mediate. Bill also regarded ADHD evaluation as unnecessary, believing Mason’s difficulties reflected ordinary behavior for a boy or a need to apply himself more; Mason went undiagnosed through childhood and adolescence.

In summer 2025, Bill and Mason’s relationship remained tense. Bill regarded Mason’s reluctance to talk as an ordinary teenage phase.

After Janine showed him the response to “Summer Moon” that summer, Bill listened closely to the track and sent Mason a message expressing pride in him.

Personal Life

Bill and Janine surprised Mason with Tiny, a male Siberian–Maine Coon kitten, for his fourteenth birthday. Bill’s friend Ryan, a carpenter, later helped Mason build Tiny a catio and built a cat condo for the basement studio.

Bill and Janine bought equipment for the basement where Mason began music-production work. Mason remained in their Baltimore home after graduation in 2025, although he increasingly kept career difficulties from his parents because he expected those struggles to prompt further arguments against his plans.
