Dr. N. Lanier
Dr. N. Lanier was a clinical psychologist affiliated with Mount Sinai Hospital. During Charlie Rivera’s November and December 2027 hospitalization, she evaluated the psychological effects of a previous therapist’s ableist framing of Charlie’s support needs. Lanier identified iatrogenic harm and helped Charlie separate the therapist’s messaging from useful clinical insight.
Charlie Rivera’s 2027 Evaluation
Lanier’s assessment documented severe internalized guilt, medical trauma, and emerging depressive features. Charlie believed that relying on Logan Weston made him a burden and had begun to interpret his medical collapse as proof that the previous therapist was right about their relationship.
Lanier identified the prior therapist’s treatment of Charlie and Logan’s disability-related interdependence as harmful. She helped Charlie understand that his need for support did not make the relationship pathological and that the therapist’s use of shame had intensified his distress.
Memorable Quotes
“What you experienced wasn’t clarity—it was weaponized shame.”
