Francisco Medina

Francisco Ángel Medina Colón, known as Cisco, was a Puerto Rican security professional based in New York. He led Ezra Cruz’s security detail and later served as Head of Security for the Fifth Bar Collective. His household included his wife, Michelle, their son, Miguel Ángel, his mother, Claudia, and his younger sister, Sofia.

Early Life and Migration

Francisco was born in Puerto Rico circa 1989–1990 to Claudia Colón de Medina and Miguel Francisco Medina Torres. Sofia, who had Down syndrome, was approximately ten years younger.

Miguel died in gang- and drug-related violence circa 2005–2006, when Francisco was sixteen. Francisco left Puerto Rico at twenty-one, circa 2010–2011, and established himself in New York. Claudia and Sofia joined him circa 2012–2014 after he had built enough stability for them to relocate.

The move gave Sofia access to speech therapy, occupational therapy, special education, and communication support. Francisco remained closely involved with both his mother and sister after their relocation.

Career

Marisol Cruz hired Francisco to lead Ezra’s personal security around 2028. He managed the detail’s staffing, procedures, travel preparation, and coordination with venues and local security teams. His written security protocol documented Ezra’s behavioral patterns, medical risks, and expectations for the team.

Francisco was in New York rather than on duty when Ezra experienced a near-fatal overdose while touring in Berlin in early 2035. He participated in the response from New York and later helped restructure the detail. In August 2035, Jared Dawkins and Manuel Torres became part of the reconstituted team under his leadership.

Francisco later became Head of Security for the Fifth Bar Collective, with responsibility for campus safety and artist protection.

Personality and Communication

Francisco communicated directly and maintained a controlled professional manner during security work. His humor was dry and understated, particularly with people he knew well. He spoke Spanish and English.

Francisco helped Claudia and Sofia relocate from Puerto Rico to New York. He remained part of Sofia’s support network and was familiar with her communication needs.

Francisco’s relationship with Michelle Anaise Rodriguez Medina began around 2016, and they married around 2022. Their son, Miguel Ángel Medina, was born circa 2030. Francisco, Michelle, and Miguel Ángel lived in the Medina carriage house on the Band House property. Claudia and Sofia lived elsewhere in the New York City area and regularly stayed with them as guests.

Francisco’s professional relationship with Ezra began when he was hired to lead Ezra’s security. Years of travel, crisis response, and daily coordination developed into a close chosen-family relationship alongside their continuing professional roles.
