Aaron Whitcomb

Aaron Whitcomb was an academic orthopedic surgeon specializing in limb reconstruction and prosthetics. Born circa 1978, he was married to Rebecca Whitcomb and was the father of Alexandra Whitcomb and Allison Whitcomb.

Medical Career

Aaron worked in academic orthopedic medicine, with a professional focus on limb reconstruction and prosthetics. His research included a paper on advances in prosthetics that Logan Weston had read and admired before they met. Aaron did not know this when he publicly questioned Logan’s future in medicine.

Thanksgiving 2033

Before meeting Logan, Aaron had publicly questioned whether Logan’s disabilities and accommodations were compatible with medical training. His daughter Alex, a student in Logan’s Hopkins class, respected Logan’s ability and kindness and challenged Aaron’s view of him.

Alex invited Logan and Charlie Rivera to the Whitcomb family’s Thanksgiving gathering in 2033. Aaron worried beforehand about whether the house could accommodate two wheelchair users comfortably. Over dinner, Logan told him how much he had enjoyed the prosthetics paper, and they talked as fellow medical thinkers rather than as strangers divided by an online argument.

Later, a cold-aggravated pain flare in Logan’s hip and spine made a transfer unsafe. Muscle guarding around his left hip prosthesis—not a mechanical failure of the implant—left him barely able to move, and the pain nearly made him faint. Aaron recognized what was happening and intervened to help the others reposition him safely. Logan and Charlie stayed overnight while they recovered.

The evening forced Aaron to confront the distance between his professional assumptions and the person he had judged. He remained demanding about medical work but became more willing to examine when a purported concern about standards was prejudice in clinical language. In later years he answered online attacks on Logan, including the renewed hostility when Logan opened Weston Pain and Neurorehabilitation Centers. He knew some of the arguments from having once made them himself.

Family and Core Relationships

Rebecca Whitcomb

Rebecca was Aaron’s wife. Her quiet authority in the Whitcomb household balanced his professional confidence; she managed much of the family’s hospitality and practical care.

Alexandra Whitcomb

Alexandra was Aaron and Rebecca’s older daughter. She later became an orthopedic physician, following him into the same field. Her friendship with Logan brought someone she valued into direct conflict with Aaron’s earlier judgment.

Allison Whitcomb

Allison was Aaron and Rebecca’s younger daughter. At first, Aaron understood Alex’s medical path more readily than Allison’s fashion work. Allison’s later adaptive-design work with Reverie gave him reason to recognize the technical rigor and care in her chosen field.
