Micah Jones
Micah Jones was a Black American man from the Montgomery, Alabama area. He was married to Candy Jones, with whom he raised Miles and Noah. After Candy began caring for Elliot Landry when he was five, Micah became Elliot’s chosen father and helped provide the steadiness, care, and housing that his biological father did not.

Micah became more of a father to Elliot than Elliot’s biological father had been. He taught Elliot not to let his softness fade even when the world punished him for it.
Micah first knew Elliot when Elliot was approximately three. After Candy began providing regular childcare in 2008, when Elliot was five, Micah’s role developed into chosen fatherhood. He taught Elliot to crack eggs with one hand, called him “Tank” affectionately, carried him when pain or exhaustion made walking impossible, massaged his swollen joints, and adapted chairs and beds as Elliot outgrew standard furniture.
When Elliot was eleven and came home after hiding severe pain through the school day, Micah carried him to the couch because he could barely manage the stairs. Candy held Elliot while Micah massaged his calves and swollen ankle. During a separate physical-education crisis at age eleven, Elliot became badly overheated and came close to heatstroke. Micah supported him during the ride home, carried him inside when his legs could no longer hold him, and helped cool and comfort him through vomiting and severe joint pain.
Micah and Candy bought a home around 2014 with an attached suite where Elliot and his mother, Jazmine Landry, could live in their own space while remaining connected to the Jones household. Micah refinished a secondhand full-size bed for Elliot and continued reinforcing and modifying furniture as Elliot grew.
When Micah was laid off around Elliot’s thirteenth birthday in 2016, the family faced greater financial strain but continued to make Elliot part of their home and celebrations. Micah grilled ribs, used his last commission check to buy a secondhand knee brace, and kept working on Elliot’s bed frame. Elliot eventually stopped calling him “Mr. Micah” and began calling him “Pops.”
In 2020, Micah joined Candy, Miles, and Noah in helping during Elliot’s severe COVID-19 illness. He and the boys helped get Elliot dressed while Candy and the other adults prepared transportation to the hospital.
Personality and Daily Life
Micah was steady, practical, patient, and warm. He used humor without directing it at Elliot’s disabilities, including an ongoing argument about Elliot’s preference for imitation maple syrup. He grilled for family gatherings, wore a “Kiss the Cook” apron, handled home repairs, and expressed care through food, physical assistance, furniture modifications, and quiet presence.
