Reggie

Reggie was a Black American bartender who lived in New York City and was a longtime fixture at The Session, a jazz club in Manhattan’s West Village. Alongside owner Vera Ferrara, he was part of the club’s informal family and helped maintain its community.

Role at The Session

Reggie had worked at The Session since its early years and had spent more than thirty years behind the bar by the mid-2020s. Vera maintained the club’s musical standards, while Reggie’s work behind the bar included practical attention to the people who gathered there.

He had known Charlie Rivera since Charlie first entered the club at thirteen. Reggie monitored whether Charlie had eaten and responded quickly when Charlie became presyncopal after performing. During Logan’s first visit in November 2025, Reggie provided alcohol-free drink options, ingredient information, food, and continued refills without turning Logan’s needs into a spectacle.

Family and Core Relationships

Charlie Rivera

Reggie treated Charlie with longstanding familiarity and dry teasing. He recognized changes in Charlie’s condition and adjusted his response without requiring Charlie to explain himself.

Logan Weston

Reggie recognized Logan Weston’s attraction to Charlie before Logan acknowledged it openly. He teased Logan without exposing him and gave him practical information about drinks and food that Logan could use while managing type 1 diabetes.

Jacob Keller

Reggie’s relationship with Jacob Keller began with abrasive ribbing. When Jacob first told him to fuck off, Reggie treated the response as a sign that Jacob had become a regular rather than a guest.

Vera Ferrara

Reggie and Vera shared responsibility for the community around The Session. Vera ran the club and set its musical expectations; Reggie maintained the bar and helped care for the people within it.

Physical Characteristics

In November 2025, Reggie was tall and lean through the body, with broad shoulders, deep-brown skin, and a face lined by laughter and exhaustion. His movements behind the bar were efficient from decades of working within the same compact space.
