Logan Weston and Mason Brooks

Logan Weston and Mason Brooks became friends through a Baltimore gifted academy and remained part of the same close friend group through Edgewood High School and graduation.

Overview

Mason was one of Logan’s four closest childhood friends, alongside Malik Carter, Jordan Wells, and James Pennington. Their friendship included school, group messages, gaming, travel, trash talk, and practical responses during crises. Mason’s sports arguments were primarily with Jordan; with Logan, he used humor to interrupt spirals and call attention to the physical costs of Logan’s workload.

Foundation of the Friendship

Mason attended the gifted academy with Logan, Malik, Jordan, and James. The five boys became friends in third grade. When Logan was bullied there, Mason urged him to save threatening messages and reported the harassment to a teacher, who told him to stay out of it. Mason, Logan, Malik, and Jordan later attended Edgewood together, while James attended Baltimore School for the Arts.

Mason did not always recognize Logan’s strain or follow through on shared work. While serving as student council event coordinator, he failed to obtain formal-venue quotations before a deadline, and Logan completed the missing work while Mason was absent with an illness. During their senior-year basement gathering, Mason repeatedly invited Logan into the multiplayer game and continued the loud play until Logan became overwhelmed and shouted at the group.

Dynamics and Communication

Mason communicated casually and often used exaggerated humor. He called Logan’s untouched lunch an “edible paperweight,” asked whether Logan was operating without a brain after one sleep-deprivation explanation, and repeatedly translated Logan’s scientific monologues into blunt jokes. During the basement game, Jordan and Malik debated basketball statistics while Mason complained about their “basketball nerd-off” and said he had not brought his graphing calculator.

His support was practical when he understood what was needed. After Jacob became faint at school, Mason brought Logan’s car to the side entrance, notified the teaching assistant that Logan was leaving for a medical reason, and checked whether Jacob would be all right. When Jacob was critically ill after a later seizure and cardiac arrest, Mason asked Logan for updates and offered help. Mason also joined the group’s commitment to become Jacob’s reliable crew.

Shared History and Milestones

Mason joined Logan, Malik, Jordan, and James on the Caribbean cruise for Logan’s sixteenth birthday. In 2025, he organized a basement gaming gathering, attended Edgewood’s graduation, and later proposed a welcome-back gathering at the Grid after Logan’s hospitalization.

After graduation, Logan left Baltimore for Howard University, while Mason stayed in the city and began modest music-production work from his parents’ basement.
