Clara Keller and Sean Wu
Clara Keller-Wu and Sean Wu were married and had several children, including their son Leo. They shared household decisions and care for Clara’s father, Jacob Keller, during his cognitive decline.
Marriage and Household
Clara gave Sean a navy “Grill Sergeant” apron for their second anniversary. He wore it while cooking at a later family gathering. They had been married for at least two years by then.
Sean and Clara shared parenting and practical decisions. Their children participated in the extended Keller household and remained close to Jacob. Leo was six when Sean and Clara’s household moved into the Mount Kisco home in 2081.
Move to Mount Kisco
As Jacob’s support needs increased, Clara first considered asking Jacob and Ava to move into her family’s home. Ava explained that removing Jacob from familiar rooms and routines would be destabilizing. Sean had independently suggested expanding the basement suite at the Mount Kisco home so that he, Clara, and their children could move instead.
Sean could work remotely more often, and both adults accepted the disruption of a four-to-six-month renovation. They made the move permanent after construction ended in 2081. The arrangement kept Jacob in his own home and placed Clara and Sean’s household close enough to share everyday family life and provide additional support.
Shared Care of Jacob Keller
Sean’s relationship with Jacob was personal as well as practical. He called him “Dad,” cooked for him, brought him tea, attended a neurology appointment with Clara, helped him use his custom wheelchair, and joined family rides at the Neighborhood Park. Clara coordinated directly with Ava during Jacob’s sensory crises and late-stage care, while Sean participated without replacing either woman’s role or treating Jacob as a task.
Their children also remained part of Jacob’s household life. The completed basement suite displayed their drawings, and six-year-old Leo told Jacob that the family lived with him now. The family remained downstairs through Jacob’s death in 2083.
When Ava recognized that Jacob was dying, she asked Clara to have Sean bring the children. Sean, Clara, and the children joined the larger family gathering in the home. After Jacob’s death, Sean accompanied Clara and Emily during Ava’s final night in the house and helped carry the belongings Ava had chosen to keep.
