Mike Watson Confronts Mo—Charlie Defends (2036)
In 2036, during Mo Makani’s first months as Charlie Rivera and Logan Weston’s personal-care assistant and household coordinator, Mike Watson twice targeted him with racist comments at the Rivera-Weston home. The second encounter ended with Charlie barring Mike from the property and threatening to call the police if he returned.

First Encounter
Mike first met Mo during Mo’s second or third week of regular shifts. Mo had stayed beyond his scheduled time after Elise Makani left to handle a family matter. Mike arrived without warning, demanded to know who Mo was, and mocked his speech by asking whether he always talked with an “island-boy accent.” Mo answered, “Respectfully, I talk how I talk.” Charlie called Mo away from the exchange, and Logan entered soon afterward.
That evening, Elise confronted Mike at their home. She told him that Mo had behaved professionally and kindly while Mike had tried to make him feel inferior for existing. When Mike continued insulting Mo, Elise said, “He’s better than you,” and told Mike that he would respect Mo in her presence or stay away from the Rivera-Weston home while Mo was working.
Second Encounter
Later that year, Mike again arrived unannounced while Mo was mid-shift and Elise was away buying groceries. Charlie had just finished a tube feed and was resting in the living-room recliner. Logan was taking a call elsewhere in the house, and Mo was cleaning the kitchen.
Mike called Mo a “live-in houseboy” and asked whether he had “island things” or coconuts to attend to. Charlie stood and ordered Mike to leave. When Mike laughed and accused him of overreacting, Charlie said that Mike had entered his home and insulted the man caring for him and Logan. He told Mike that he was no longer welcome and that another visit would bring a police call.
Mike said that he had come for Elise because she was his wife. Charlie answered in rapid Spanish, accusing Mike of treating Elise as property, insulting her, controlling her, and making her cry. Mike told Charlie to speak English because he could not understand him.
Charlie threatened to throw the television remote at Mike and told him never to police the language spoken inside Charlie’s own home. Already trembling, tachycardic, breathless, and nauseated, he refused to stop until he had finished. When the nausea turned abruptly, he grabbed Logan’s shirt and said he was going to vomit. Mo brought a basin while Logan helped Charlie to the floor.
Charlie vomited as Mike remained in the room. Logan then told Mike, “Get. Out.” Mike left without apologizing.
Charlie’s Crash
After Mike left, Charlie continued dry-heaving and shivering violently. His skin became cold and clammy, and his lips went pale. Logan supported him and held his cold hand while Mo braced the basin, rubbed his back, and spoke quietly in Hawaiian Creole. Charlie’s glucose remained within range; the collapse followed the sustained exertion and adrenaline of the confrontation.
Elise returned at approximately 6:51 p.m. and found all three men on the living-room floor. She brought a heat pack and helped Logan and Mo settle Charlie. After they moved him to bed, Logan told her that Mike had repeatedly insulted Mo, told Charlie to speak English, and remained until Charlie’s physical crash forced the confrontation to end.
Elise apologized directly to Mo. She then said that Mike would never be welcome at the house again. The boundary remained in place.
