Berklee College of Music

Berklee College of Music is a Boston-based music college founded in 1945 and known for contemporary music, jazz, popular music, performance, production, and music-industry training. Berklee is part of the professional and educational orbit around Raffie Cruz and other musicians of his generation.

Overview

Berklee’s curriculum and reputation sit closer to jazz, popular music, and industry practice than to a strictly classical conservatory model, giving it a distinct contemporary-music identity.

Significance

Raffie studied vocal performance and composition at Berklee and graduated at twenty-one. Elías studied guitar performance and composition. They met there at approximately nineteen during a late-night jam session after the other musicians had left, and their musical collaboration developed into friendship and romance.
