Jordan's Kia Telluride
Jordan’s Kia Telluride was the Midnight Lake Blue 2024 Telluride S AWD owned and driven by Jordan Wells. It had black SynTex upholstery and no sunroof. Jordan enjoyed driving SUVs and liked the vehicle’s deep blue exterior.
Acquisition and Ownership
Jordan worked and saved toward part of the SUV’s purchase price, as Logan did for his own vehicle. Jordan and his family test-drove the vehicles they were considering at dealerships before purchasing the Telluride. He was already considering attending Georgetown University, making driving in Washington, D.C., and pedestrian safety relevant to the choice.
Jordan’s father, Jeremiah, valued statistics when assessing the vehicle. He considered crash safety, ease of cleaning, and Jordan’s comfort, emphasizing that “a teenager, even one like Jordan, is going to be driving this thing.” At six feet six inches tall, with a broad athletic build, Jordan needed room for his height and width at the wheel.
Jeremiah and Scarlet required all-wheel drive for Jordan’s SUV. They accepted the additional purchase cost and fuel use for its traction assistance during winter driving between Baltimore and Washington, D.C.
Specifications and Condition
The Telluride S had a 3.8-liter gasoline V6 engine rated at 291 horsepower and an eight-speed automatic transmission. Its active on-demand all-wheel-drive system included AWD Lock and Snow modes. The AWD model’s EPA-estimated fuel economy was 18 mpg in city driving, 24 mpg on the highway, and 20 mpg combined. Its factory seating accommodated seven people across three rows.
The configuration without a sunroof provided 40.9 inches of published front headroom. The driver’s seat offered eight-way power adjustment and two-way power lumbar support, and the steering column adjusted for tilt and reach.
Exterior and Interior Layout
The exterior was finished in Midnight Lake Blue. Inside, the Telluride had black SynTex synthetic-leather upholstery and heated front seats. Two captain’s chairs occupied the second row, with a three-person split-folding bench in the third row. The second-row seats could slide and fold for access to the back row.
The S included a rear-view camera and rear parking-distance warnings. Its forward collision-avoidance system included pedestrian and cyclist detection and junction-turning assistance.
