I Am Still Me Baltimore Setting Research
Scope
This report supports the Baltimore setting cluster used during production of ‘’I Am Still Me: A Minjae Lee Story’‘. Research was checked on September 19, 2026. It distinguishes current real-world facts from fictional continuity established for late 2036 and early 2037.
Fictional Context Checked
- The Lee family needs a detached, single-story or convincingly single-level home with generous lot space, extensive accessibility work, and an attached suite that can later house Jess Ross and Caleb Ross.
- Julian Reyes and Kayla Rossi travel from Los Angeles to Baltimore repeatedly over four to five months.
- Their first Baltimore stay lasts roughly one week. Later visits use a furnished corporate apartment retained between trips.
- The production apartment must be close enough to the Lee home for repeated filming days without placing the filmmakers inside the family’s private household.
Findings
Lee home neighborhood
Verdict: Hamilton proper, within the broader Hamilton-Lauraville area of Northeast Baltimore, is the strongest fit.
Live Baltimore places Hamilton between Belair Road and Harford Road and describes a housing mix led by detached cottages, ranchers, and traditional brick homes on quiet, tree-lined streets with wooded areas and green space. Its neighborhood material also notes larger houses and generous yards. Those features support a widened or substantially adapted one-story house more plausibly than Baltimore’s denser rowhouse districts. Live Baltimore: Hamilton
Lauraville offers a similar leafy, detached-house context and remains useful as the adjoining district reference, but Hamilton is the better match because the current source explicitly includes ranchers. Live Baltimore: Lauraville Baltimore Heritage’s history of the Harford Road corridor supports the area’s detached-house and former semi-rural development pattern. Baltimore Heritage: Life in the Belt
Writing constraint: Haneul Court is a fictional private residential court placed off the real Hamilton Avenue/Harford Road network. No real private residence or house number is assigned to the Lees. The court, the home’s exact lot, and the structure’s purpose-built accessibility are story decisions.
The Lucie
Verdict: The real apartment building at 3850 Boston Street is a plausible later-trip production base.
The property’s official site places The Lucie at 3850 Boston Street in Brewers Hill. It lists studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and loft residences; smart thermostats; wide-plank flooring; stackable washer-dryers; walk-in closets; coworking space; a conference room; call booths; courtyards; and multiple shared amenity rooms. The Lucie The Lucie amenities
BKV Group identifies the building as a six-story, 500-unit project with a five-story wood-framed superstructure on a two-level concrete podium. Its project page also confirms the Brewers Hill redevelopment and the building’s relationship to the Baltimore Greenway. BKV Group: The Lucie
The official floor-plan inventory identifies A10 as a one-bedroom, one-bath layout of approximately 715 square feet. Its published diagram places the bathroom and laundry near the entry, the bedroom at the opposite exterior side, and the kitchen along the open living and dining room. The diagram is an artist’s rendering and explicitly remains approximate; unit-specific dimensions and finishes may vary. The Lucie floor plans
Writing constraint: Current rent, availability, management, individual-unit accessibility, and the existence of a corporate-furnished A10 lease in 2036 cannot be verified now. The furnished lease, passenger and service-elevator access during production, retained-between-trips arrangement, and the unit’s specific contents are story decisions. No unit number is established.
Residence Inn at the Johns Hopkins Medical Campus
Verdict: The hotel is a plausible first-week base before Kayla secures the longer corporate lease.
Marriott currently lists the property at 800 North Wolfe Street, steps from Johns Hopkins Hospital, the School of Nursing, and Kennedy Krieger Institute. It is an all-suite, extended-stay hotel with full-size kitchens, on-site laundry, breakfast, Wi-Fi, interior-corridor suite access, and elevators. Marriott: hotel overview Marriott: suites
Marriott’s current accessibility list includes mobility-accessible rooms, roll-in showers, accessible vanities, handheld shower wands, hearing-accessible rooms or kits, flashing door knockers, lowered controls, and wheelchair-height toilets. These are property-level options, not proof that every suite has every feature.
Writing constraint: The story establishes a roughly one-week stay during the first Baltimore filming trip. The exact suite type, room number, nightly rate, and whether the property retains the same brand and operator in 2036 remain unstated.
Travel Relationships
The three settings form an east and northeast Baltimore production triangle:
- The Residence Inn sits on the Johns Hopkins medical campus in East Baltimore and works as a short-notice first base.
- The Lucie sits southeast of the medical campus in Brewers Hill and works as a repeat-trip apartment with workspace, laundry, and a kitchen.
- The Lee home sits north in Hamilton, reached through the Harford Road/Hamilton Avenue side of Northeast Baltimore.
Exact driving times are deliberately not canonized. Traffic, departure time, parking, and the fictional court entrance would change them. For planning, the Johns Hopkins hotel is the closest of the two production bases to the medical campus; The Lucie is the more practical long-stay work base; either requires a cross-city drive to Hamilton.
Canon Decisions Established from the Research
- The Lee home is on fictional Haneul Court in Hamilton, off the Hamilton Avenue/Harford Road network.
- Julian and Kayla spend their first Baltimore filming trip, roughly one week, at the Residence Inn Baltimore at The Johns Hopkins Medical Campus.
- After that trip, Kayla arranges a furnished corporate A10 apartment at The Lucie for later returns.
- Resonance Films retains the apartment between Los Angeles trips during the four-to-five-month filming period. The lease is a major production expense.
- These 2036 decisions do not assert that present-day prices, availability, accessibility inventory, ownership, or management remain unchanged ten years later.
